Luxega strengthens safety commitment
At Luxega, safety is not something we add at the end of a project. It is built into every step of our retrofit process. When we install an LED insert in an existing luminaire, we become responsible for the rebuilt product — legally and technically. That responsibility is something we take seriously, and it is the reason we invest in the same test methods used for new luminaires.
The photos above shows one of the EMC test rooms we use. EMC testing confirms that a lighting product does not create electrical noise and is not affected by disturbances from the environment. Instead of testing our LED insert as a standalone unit, we always test it inside the original street light housing. This approach gives a true and complete picture of how the rebuilt luminaire behaves in real life. It is also the safest way to ensure that municipalities and contractors receive a solution that meets all technical requirements.
Very few retrofit suppliers do this. Testing a full luminaire is more expensive and takes more time, but it is the correct method when the retrofit company becomes responsible for the final product. Every city deserves a safe installation — not assumptions.
Complete Documentation for Every Retrofit
EMC testing is only one part of our safety package. Because a retrofit is considered a “substantial modification” under European rules, Luxega becomes the manufacturer of the rebuilt luminaire. This requires a full set of documents, not just a simple CE logo.
For every LED insert installation, Luxega provides:
• EC Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
Covering the rebuilt luminaire, not just the components.
• CE documentation
Including certificates for drivers, LEDs, and power supplies from accredited third-party labs.
• Independent light measurements (EN 13032-4 / LM-79)
Performed with the LED insert mounted inside the original luminaire.
• TM21 lifetime calculations
Verifying long-term performance of LEDs.
• EN 60598-1 & EN 60598-2-3 compliance
These are the main safety standards for road lighting luminaires and include electrical safety, thermal management, and mechanical stability.
• IP and IK verification
Confirming resistance against dust, water and impact.
• EMC compliance (EN 55015 / EN 61000 series)
Ensuring electrical safety and reliability in real environments.
• Wind resistance calculations
Documenting the stability of the pole–luminaire setup after the rebuild.
• Optional Dark Sky documentation
For projects with special needs regarding light spill.
This full package gives municipalities the documentation they need when consultants, inspectors or regulators ask for proof of compliance.
Safety as a Core Value
Luxega’s retrofit concept is built on sustainability, but sustainability only works when safety comes first. That is why we test, document and verify every step — and why we invest in accredited laboratories for the same kind of testing used for completely new luminaires.
Our goal is simple:
When a city chooses Luxega, they should feel safe. Every installation. Every time.
