Our LED retrofit programme is built around a straightforward principle: the infrastructure already on your streets has value. The poles, the housings, the mounting points — they represent decades of investment. What needed replacing was never the structure. It was what was inside.
Luxega LED inserts are engineered to fit directly into existing luminaire housings, transforming aged street lights, park lanterns, and area luminaires into modern, efficient, smart-ready light points — without changing a single thing about how they look from the outside.
Preserving the Character of the Street
One of the most common concerns in retrofit projects is light quality. Sodium and metal halide installations have a warmth to them — a familiar glow that has defined streets, parks, and public spaces for decades. Many municipalities are understandably cautious about replacing that character with something harsher.
Our LED inserts are available to match the original colour temperature of the installation. Where the existing light was warm, the replacement is warm. Beyond that, our inserts deliver a significantly higher Colour Rendering Index (CRI), meaning colours are rendered more accurately and naturally — better visibility for pedestrians and drivers without any increase in perceived harshness. Glare is reduced, the overall environment feels calmer, and the light sits comfortably in its surroundings.

The Numbers That Matter
Every Luxega LED insert delivers a minimum of 50% energy savings compared to the light source it replaces. In many installations, the reduction is considerably greater. Lifetime improvement is equally significant — where a conventional sodium lamp typically reaches end of life between 6,000 and 12,000 hours, our LED inserts are rated for up to 100,000 hours. That is a lifetime improvement of up to 10 times, with a corresponding reduction in maintenance visits, replacement costs, and operational disruption.
NightDim — Intelligent Dimming Without New Infrastructure
Luxega LED inserts are compatible with our NightDim dimming solution, which enables time-based or presence-triggered adaptive lighting without requiring a central management system or new cabling.
In standard NightDim configuration, light levels reduce automatically during low-traffic hours — typically to 30% output — and restore to 100% upon detected movement. This is achieved through integrated presence sensing, with no dependency on external network connectivity.
For installations using the Zhaga standard interface, sensor integration is direct and seamless. For non-Zhaga housings, Luxega provides fully integrated sensor solutions that achieve the same functionality within the existing luminaire body.
Built for the Infrastructure That Already Exists
Every Luxega LED insert includes 20kV surge protection as standard. Street lighting networks are exposed to voltage transients from switching operations, nearby lightning, and grid events. Surge protection at this level is not a premium feature — it is a basic requirement for long-term reliability in outdoor infrastructure, and it is included in every unit we supply.
