Luxega Successfully Tested in Sweden
Luxega is proud to announce the successful completion of a test installation in Brottby, Sweden, in collaboration with one of the country’s largest infrastructure operators. The purpose of the project was to validate Luxega’s AI-designed LED retrofit insert for the iconic Philips Milewide street light against the demanding M4 and M5 road lighting standards in Northern Europe.
The results speak for themselves
Independent night vision measurements showed that our retrofit solution not only matched but outperformed several modern LED street lighting luminaires in both lumen output and uniformity. By using a custom combination of optics, we tailored light distribution to perfectly meet Swedish requirements — including glare control and energy efficiency.
Our retrofit units were also equipped with the latest high-efficiency LEDs and a Philips Dynadimmer driver, enabling intelligent dimming that reduces brightness during low-traffic hours and ramps up in the morning — resulting in significant energy savings and improved biodiversity protection in forested areas.
This project marks a milestone for Luxega, proving that our retrofit solution is not just sustainable — it's also a reliable, regulation-compliant alternative to full luminaire replacements.
With easy 11-minute installation, 20 kV surge protection, and up to 182 lm/W, Luxega’s solution is ready to serve municipalities across Europe and the world.
We thank our Swedish partner for this opportunity and welcome cities and contractors looking for fast, efficient, and future-ready LED retrofit solutions.
Lighting in the Forest Area – Precision and Biodiversity in Balance
In the forested section of the Brottby installation, Luxega’s retrofit solution delivered excellent lighting regularity while maintaining a narrow and controlled light distribution. Measurements confirmed that light was precisely targeted to the roadway, with minimal spill into the surrounding forest.
This careful optical design not only ensures visibility and safety for road users but also significantly reduces the impact on local wildlife. The result is a solution that balances regulatory compliance with biodiversity protection — a vital consideration for infrastructure in natural environments.
Lighting in the School Area – Safety First, with Less Energy
In the school zone, Luxega’s LED insert demonstrated outstanding road lighting performance, ensuring safe, uniform illumination for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles.
Notably, our measurements showed that the required lighting standards could be achieved with a 35% lower light output compared to the previously installed luminaires — a clear sign of our system’s superior efficiency.
This means not only increased safety, but also significant energy savings and reduced operating costs for the municipality — all while maintaining full compliance with Swedish road lighting regulations.
